CRYS RAMKISSOON (she/her/hers) is a Trinbagonian-born, emerging American visual artist, conceptual fashion designer, and figurative illustrator.  With over 14 + years experience in Creative pattern making, garment construction, tech pack creation, technical fit and design, apparel PLM, and sourcing. Ramkissoon intricately weaves narratives that explore Indo-Caribbean American identity through textiles, garment construction, figurative illustrations, and collaborative performance-based self-image creation. She often creates heroine figures, developing them through dress, embodiment, and performance. Her current body of work, entitled “Absolute Power,” narrates the journey of a woman who transforms into a Hindu deity to confront her inner demons.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate, Ramkissoon earned a BA in Political Science from Florida International University in Miami, FL, and an AA in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, CA. Spending most of her early career working in the Miami fashion industry as an entrepreneur and apparel designer, she is largely self-taught as an artist.
